Waterfront Newstead Urban Renewal (including ‘the Gasworks’)

Senior Project Manager (D Flood) - AUD350M MIRVAC Development

At the heart of Brisbane’s inner-city revitalisation, this flagship project transformed a decommissioned gasworks site into a blue-chip, high-density riverside precinct. Delivering the first two stages, the works encompassed: • Environmental remediation of the former Newstead gasworks site, bounded by Breakfast Creek Road, Longland Street, Waterloo Street and the Brisbane River • Installation of major stormwater infrastructure upgrades across Brisbane’s city network • Bulk earthworks and subdivision into multiple super-lots ready for high-rise towers • Permanent riverbank retention and boardwalks to safeguard and enhance the precinct • Construction of 200+ luxury residential apartments to ultra-high-end standards • Off-the-plan sale of the first 100 apartments as “penthouses,” ranging in value from AUD 4 million to AUD 20 million. Despite the complex decontamination and civil-infrastructure demands, the programme was delivered on time and on budget. The result set a new benchmark for urban renewal along Brisbane’s riverfront, seamlessly integrating world-class design with robust, future-proof infrastructure.

Lombrum Naval Base Redevelopment - Manus Island PNG

Senior Project Manager (D Flood)

Procuring and mobilising a multi discipline, PNG team (from diverse cultural backgrounds) to deliver ancillary services infrastructure and buildings across the new master planned naval base in a Tier One contracting environment. The challenge was to achieve a start date and demonstrating to the head contractor (Clough) that contract conditions could be satisfied by a new team of PNG national staff with no previous project delivery references.

QLD Police Headquarters (Roma St Brisbane)

Site Engineer (D Flood)

Consolidation of police command functions across an entire Roma Street city block in Brisbane, delivered to international standards comparable with New York City’s Police HQ. The scope—equivalent in scale to an 80-storey commercial tower—combined cutting-edge security, resilient infrastructure and seamless urban integration: • Site masterplanning, demolition and earthworks across a full city-block footprint • Construction of high-security zones: command centre, forensic laboratories, detention suites and briefing theatres • Deployment of advanced security systems: biometric access control; encrypted communications network; 24/7 integrated surveillance • Complex structural core and vertical-transport design to support uninterrupted operations • Resilient building services: dual power feeds; redundant IT and comms infrastructure; hardened emergency systems • Architectural façade and public-realm activation, creating a civic presence that balances accessibility with protection. Rigorous stakeholder coordination, strict security clearances and city-centre logistics management ensured delivery on time and within budget. This precinct set the benchmark for secure, large-scale government facility development in Australia.
